Sociology 2270A/B – Foundations of Social Theory

A comprehensive survey of the founding theories and theorists (among others, Marx, Weber and Durkheim) of sociology, and of the social and historical contexts out of which their theories grew. Students will be introducted to the principal philosophical and epistemological questions concerning the nature of sociological knowledge. Antirequisite(s): Sociology 2240E or the former Sociology 230. Prerequisite(s): At least 60% in Sociology 1020 or 1021E. Corequisite(s): Pre-or Corequisite(s): Extra Information: 3 lecture hours, 0.5 course. Sociology 2240E or 2270A/B and 2271A/B are mandatory for students registered in Yr 2 of an Honors Specialization offered through the Dept. of Sociology. back to top
