Philosophy 3910F/G – Aesthetics

An investigation of issues in the philosophy of art and aesthetics. Topics include: characteristics of the various arts; the fine arts, arts and cultures, mass arts; art, craft, and technology; beauty, taste, and the variety of aesthetics; freedom and self-expression; individuals and cultures; mimesis and imagination; interpretation and audience participation. Antirequisite(s): The former Philosophy 355E or 348G. Prerequisite(s): Third and Fourth Year standing in a Philosophy Program or Module.
