Philosophy 1200 – Reasoning and Critical Thinking

An introduction to basic principles of reasoning and critical thinking designed to enhance the student’s ability to evaluate various forms of reasoning as found in everyday life as well as in academic disciplines. The course will deal with such topics as inductive and deductive reasoning, the nature and function of definitions, types of fallacies, the use and misuse of statistics, and the rudiments of logic.
