This course examines the fundamental aspects of the structure, physiology, genetics, and phylogenetic relationships of the Bacteria and Archaea. Examples of medically and environmentally important organisms are presented. Antirequisite(s): Prerequisite(s): Either Biology 1001A or 1201A and either Biology 1002B or 1202B, or one of the former Biology 1222 or 1223; Chemistry 1100A/B and 1200B, or one of the former Chemistry 1050, 1020 or 023.
