History 3407F/G – Themes in European Environmental History: From Antiquity to the Nineteenth Century

This course explores the history of European attitudes toward the natural world. We will reach back to Antiquity, but the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, and, above all, the early-modern period will draw most of our attention. The multi-disciplinary nature of environmental history will suggest a broad range of topics. Antirequisite(s): Prerequisite(s): 1.0 course in History at the 2200 level or above.
