History 2609E – Modern South Asia

This is a survey of modern South Asian history from the sixteenth to the twentieth centuries. Our focus is on the sub-continental landmass comprising the present-day nations of India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. The course is in lecture and discussion format. Lectures are organized around weekly themes, readings, films, visuals, and other resources.
