French 3307A/B – Special Topics in Translation: Deceptive Cognates and Lexical Pitfalls

This course studies the semantics and morphology of English and French cognates in a historical perspective, and aims at improving written expression in French, by avoiding common lexical pitfalls in the translation of nonfiction texts from English into French. Antirequisite(s): The former French 3202. Prerequisite(s): Both French 2905A/B and 2906A/B, or French 2900, or permission of the Department of French Studies, based on Placement Test.
