French 2805A/B – General Linguistics in French: Sound Patterns

This course introduces students to the foundations of linguistics, its goals and its methodological practices by focusing on the domains of linguistics that relate to the sound patterns of French. Students will gain knowledge of the phonetics, the phonology and the sociolinguistics of French, with an emphasis on Canadian French. Antirequisite(s): The former French 2800. Prerequisite(s): French 1900E or French 1910 or permission of the Department of French Studies, based on Placement Test.
